I welcome you to the Official website of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem which aims on one hand, the presentation of the Holy Places where the event of the Incarnation of the Son and Word of God took place, and on the other hand, the support of the Hagiotaphitic Brotherhood (Brotherhood of the Holy Sepulchre), the people who are their guardians.
I am a Radiologist Doctor but in the present web-site I am involved as an Orthodox Christian.
The reason that brought me to volunteer for this task was the moving invitation of the Patriarch for members, which he later broadcasted publicly through the Radio Station of the Church of Greece.
“…….. Now at last we must stop being involved with the past. We must look forward. The future concerns us. The problems are simple. What we need are members because the needs of the Patriarchate at this moment are great. The care of the Patriarchate is not limited only to the Shrines but extends also to the pastoral area. We have our communities. Also our responsibilities are increasing due to the position of the Patriarchate. Today the Patriarchate of Jerusalem after this recovery, let's call it so, has regained its central place. The Patriarchate plays a significant role not only in the ecclesiastic sector but also in the inter-Christian and political. Since the Patriarchate is the only Church, the only religious Christian institution that is indigenous. The Church of the Land, is the only institution which represents and expresses the Christian voice of Jerusalem, which means that it also represents all the other Christians and the rest of the Christian confessions….”
With the blessing of the Most Blessed Patriarch of Jerusalem, Theophilos 3rd , I responded, offering to take over the general organization for the creation and operation of the official web-site of the Patriarchate. Without having the necessary technical knowledge and capabilities, I inquired around a number of people knowledgeable in the field. Finally I found what we needed in the person of the Assistant Professor of Information Technology at the University of Ioannina, Mr. Demetrios Fotiadis, which was the immediate, free and unconditional willingness to undertake the technical side of the task. Next, in cooperation with the responsible members of the Patriarchate appointed to research and assemble the required material, together with the help of volunteers, the whole project was launched.
